Who is afraid of the big bad crisis is a project consisting of 3 workshops (in Skopje, Athens and Tirana) with the aim to address the issue of ‘crisis’ by developing 3 short films. The main purpose of the workshops is to give participants time to envision and create short films addressing the subject of ‘crisis’, seen from different perspectives: economical, political, personal crisis, etc.

The moderators and trainers of the workshops will be the artists and the filmmakers Effi & Amir.

The films, created by teams of participants of different nationalities and will be shown in a public screening after each workshop, as well as during the 2nd edition of “Balkans beyond Borders” Film Festival, which will take place in Athens in June, 2011.

The ever increasing proliferation of media generated through collective use of mapping and image-making platforms are creating new ways of seeing and exploring the world. The “New Geographies” workshop will present practical, participatory and theoretical examples of new geographies created through use of image-making and mapping technologies. This workshop will focus on Skopje where a research of the city will be carried out using YouTube and Google Earth. How is Skopje depicted through video and the map? In what way does it relate to the built environment? How might one respond to, dialogue with and add to the map? Participants will explore Skopje to deepen understanding and sense of the conditions concerning placement of media within the city, using this research to determine in what other ways Skopje could and should be depicted. This will take the form of an initial exploration and cartographic study of Skopje, followed by production of videos and urban interventions and ending with a final public presentation where we share the workshop results through collaborative storytelling.

На оваа презентација таа ќе ги претстави своите проекти и методологијата на работа. Како продолжение на презентацијата ќе биде претставена и селекција од делата на уметницата, кадешто ќе бидат претставени два поголеми проекти: Buscando Al Sr. Goodbar и Life: A user's Manual, како и презентација на резултатите од работилницата Нови Георафии којашто се оддржа од 23 до 26 ноември 2010 под нејзино водство.

Селектираните дела се создавани во периодот од 2003 година па се до денес, и во нив уметницата користи различни пристапи. Life: A user's Manual ги користи мрежите на апаратите за набљудување и наративите коишто од нив произлегуваат за да креира свој наратив. Воедно, проектот ја разголува фрагилноста на овие системи за набљудување прикажувајќи интимни моменти од животите на набљудуваните. Проектот Buscando Al Sr. Goodbar, од друга странакористи материјали прикачени од корисници на социјалните мрежи: You Tube и Google earth. Тука, уметничката решава да селектира дел од видеата во областа Мурција и потоа со организирана автобуска тура во којашто ги посетува авторите на овие видеа. Во некои случаи, авторите на видета се претвораат во вистински перформери, изведувајќи ги истите точки пред оваа публика.

По презентацијата на авторката ќе следи презентацијата на истражувањето за Скопје преку нејзината методологија на работа.
